We head out to the California state line and spend the next 3 days meandering home over 350 or so miles of dirt back home to Phoenix, AZ.
The final morning of the trip... Not quite ready for real life, to plug back in. We wanted to delay the inevitable if only for a couple more hours.
It was the coldest night of the trip, but that’s not a complaint. Living in the desert you need a certain quantity of cold winter nights to replenish your tolerance of the hot summer months.
We’d packed like we were heading on an arctic expedition, but what would you expect from a couple of Arizonans. Instead, the night was a downright pleasant 50 something degrees Fahrenheit.
No big adventure. Just glad the pinion seal works, the window seals are okay and the suspension works well. Time to re-torque everything tonight.
What I’ve been doing every night this week.
We headed in the 109f heat to Tucson to pickup our leg of a cross country FJ40 baton relay and do some mountain biking. Riveting stuff here folks, RIVETING!! (Oh yah, I am bad with money... so I bought a drone...)
Our FJ40. We drove a few hours out into the desert to see if the truck we’d heard about was worth it or not...
This was my 9th year of teaching at Overland Expo and despite not being a fan of crowds or events I always manage to meet a ton of nice people and have a good time.
“Hey guy, thanks for running into my truck...”
I’m not really a Big T kinda guy, but this seems like a pretty rare bird.
The FJ40 and I made it home! Drove home from school to find the FJ was in driving condition! And then saw this on my way home with the FJ... Toyota>Hummer...
I’m back with another Cruiser everyone. This one is about the nicest survivors I have seen. Enjoy!
My parents own an automotive shop so every once in a while this is the view of our bays. Makes me smile every time. What would be the lineup of four of the same vehicles that would make you happy?
Loud, but fun paint job.
Stumbled upon this lovely machine on my daily catch-up of BringATrailer, and am perplexed that somebody put the time into this. Not amazed, just perplexed.
I clearly need less free time, because I keep finding myself looking at things like this:
